La BMW Série 5 Grand Turismo. Avec son appellation GT, la BMW se positionne pourtant dans le créneau des voitures exécutives. La BMW 5 GT offre trois motorisations – 3.0l diesel, 4.4l V8 twin turbo de la série 7, et un 3.0l turbocharged. Toutes les motorisations s’accrochent sur une boite automatique 8 vitesses. De manière générale les motorisations font de la BMW 5 GT une voiture efficace et performante qui pourrait se réclamer du badge GT.
Par contre la précision de conduite, ni le confort de conduite n’est à la hauteur d’une GT. Le volant est un peu lent et la conduite légère, la voiture tangue un peu trop dans les virages, et surtout le confort de conduite est assez désagréable car la voiture vibre à chaque rugosité de la route, ce qui est gênant pour une voiture de route. A l’intérieur, on retrouve le standard BMW, avec une très bon niveau de finition, et une conduite très silencieuse, ce qui est paradoxale avec l’appellation GT qui voudrait que l’on ait du plaisir à entendre rugir le moteur.
La voiture est spacieuse à l’intérieur, le coffre est un peu décevant en taille, et le niveau de conduite un peu surélevé, ce qui fait de la BMW 5 GT un bon compromis entre SUV, Crossover et voiture exécutive. A l’achat, la 5 GT reste chère, autant que le X5, mais un avec un niveau d’équipement qui le justifie. La motorisation 3.0L est raisonnable en termes de consommation. Mais la grande question est la valeur de revente, que nous estimons équivalente à une série 5 traditionnelle. Cela peut donc être un achat défavorable à long terme.
Pour conclure, la BMW 5 GT est une fausse GT. La voiture offre de belles performances, mais la conduite approximative ne permet pas d’en profiter. A l’intérieur, le niveau d’équipement et la finition sont parfaits. Cette voiture est un achat « coups de cœur », car sa valeur de revente risque fort de décevoir également.
